THE FRANKINCENSE BURNER
Although we have burned frankincense and other resins for thousands of years in homes and more recently (last 2000 years for example!) in Churches and Ashrams, this is a “new invention” that Young Living has just given us because it is electric and just plugs in, requiring no pre-burning of charcoal.
The resin is placed on the metal “dish” on the top and that is all one has to do!
The little bag of frankincense resin is either boswelia carterii, frankincense from Somalia, or boswelia sacra, from Oman. These 2 have been found to have the highest healing compounds. One that is much more commonly used for burning is boswelia frereana,which is the most aromatic and widely used in the perfume industry. However, it has almost no therapeutic properties, which is of course what we are most interested in, so these are the 2 Young Living uses, found to have the greatest healing qualities.
The frankincense burner has a tradition of about 10,000 years. The smoke coming off the burnt resin of these therapeutic-grade resins stimulates the immune system, even accessing the emotional body, working on depression, frustration, anxiety, etc.
The Ancients put their clothes over a triangular, teepee-like frame at night. In the center of the space beneath the frame holding the clothes they burned the frankincense resin. This killed lice, ticks, sand fleas, bacteria, and gave the unwashed clothing (not possible to wash in the desert) a better scent!
During the day they put their bedding on this frame, so all mold, fungus, etc. was impregnated and saturated from the smoke. The frankincense smoke also let their sleep become more peaceful and restful.
Young Living hopes to re-establish this ancient tradition. Malachai states: “burn frankincense from sunset to sunrise in all 4 corners of the world.”
Along with other attributes, frankincense is a grounding agent that brings us into balance. Only then can we operate from common sense.
